Job Summary
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, testing, and optimizing CNC programs for the machining department. This role requires interpreting complex technical drawings and specifications to ensure the precise machining of parts and components. The CNC Programmer collaborates closely with engineers and machinists to improve manufacturing processes and ensure high-quality production.
Additionally, the role includes implementing customized solutions based on project/product feasibility analysis, optimizing procedures, defining machining cycles, and selecting appropriate tools. This position is made even more comprehensive by the chance to work directly with CNC programs and validate new products within the machining department.
Responsibilities
- Programming: Develop CNC programs using CAD/CAM software for complex parts and components. Knowledge of Siemens Sinumerik, Fanuc, and Okuma controls is important for editing existing programs.
- Blueprint Analysis: Review blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Tool Selection: Choose the appropriate tools and machines for each job.
- Testing and Optimization: Test programs directly on the machine and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve critical process issues and implement process improvements.
- Documentation: Maintain records and documentation related to machine specifications and programming notes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety rules and workplace regulations.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or technical high school diploma in mechanical, mechatronic or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience with CNC machines and proficiency in CAM software. Knowledge of Fusion 360 is considered a plus.
- Certifications: Certifications in CNC programming can enhance job prospects.
- Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with new software, training and process technologies.

- Strong proficiency in blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation.
- Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience with boring machines and machining centers for large cast-iron workpieces.
- Experience in turning operations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and machinists.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- English language proficiency (written and spoken): B1/B2.
