Delair is a part of the Industrial Technologies & Services Group within the Ingersoll Rand organization. Delair is the plant based in The Netherlands that designs and controls production of skid mounted compressed air and gas dryers for various industries, like semi-conductor plants, oil & gas, and hydrogen plants.


The Product Engineer is directly responsible for determining and directing the most economical, high-quality design for standard and non-standard customer orders from concept to manufacturing, field installation and operation.
This shall include developing the sizing criteria and calculations for optimal performance and equipment economical value.


THE PRODUCT ENGINEER SHALL:

  • be fluent in most engineering processes and leading efforts to improve.
  • develop technical solutions to problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • independently formulate technically innovative ideas when implementing projects or activities in support of the business strategies.
  • become an expert source of product knowledge in specified area and shall develop the technology further, contributing towards independent product development, enhancement and technical concepts.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Responsible for the conceptual design from bidding phase to equipment realization and operation
  • Process modelling and testing (or defining test setup) to support new designs and sizing calculation development for compressed air and gas dehydration
  • Carrying out technical studies and make recommendations for improvements that will increase equipment performance and economic value
  • Preparation of engineering project documentation, including P&ID’s, equipment datasheets, equipment and system sizing calculations, design basis and philosophy documents such as sequence of operation
  • Participate in technical risk assessments
  • Verifies conceptual design to ensure client output requirements are achieved
  • Provides support to the commercial team in the evaluation of opportunities in terms of product capability, technical risk and developing solutions to new applications
  • Develop and modify existing designs with detail engineers and where appropriate authorize changes based on component availability, performance and cost effectiveness

  • Proficient with computer and information technology
  • A thorough knowledge of drying process engineering calculations to estimate humid air / condensate behaviour in relation to pressure, flows and temperatures
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information in mathematical or written form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to make the translation from the practical product application to the process calculations and the translation from process calculations to product impact.
  • Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering, heat transfer & fluid dynamics
  • Affinity with process technical installations: packaged equipment with pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in similar function in industrial environment
  • Knowledge of MS office applications including MS Project.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English. Knowledge of German language is beneficial for communication with our German production plant
