Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Procurement Manager to lead our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to maximize savings on materials and indirect costs, reducing inventory levels while ensuring the continuous supply of materials, optimizing production schedules, and making critical decisions on make-or-buy analysis for our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies designed to reduce costs and improve quality and delivery of materials.
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify new suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they meet the company's standards for quality and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable terms.
- Work closely with the production team to optimize inventory levels and production schedules to meet customer demand while minimizing excess stock.
- Lead the make-or-buy decision-making process, evaluating the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of in-house manufacturing versus outsourcing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and Engineering, to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with company goals.
- Manage supplier performance through regular reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and performance metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement process, utilizing lean methodologies and cost-saving measures.
- Provide leadership and direction to the procurement team, setting clear goals, and offering mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical practices in procurement activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a proven track record in strategic procurement and cost reduction.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure advantageous terms.
- In-depth knowledge of market dynamics and sound business judgment.
- Proficient in supply chain management software and tools, with excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Experience in inventory management and production planning.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
