Job Summary

The Environmental, Health & Safety Leader is a critical regional leadership role, which drives the strategy and implements a best-in-class safety and sustainability culture. This position will collaborate with the executive leadership team and provide support to our operational teams and Plant and Services EH&S Leader in leading and supporting EHS activities, programs, and incident prevention activities at their location(s)while ensuring compliance with Ingersoll Rand processes, local, state, and national requirements. This position will also be responsible for creating and implementing safety and sustainability programs, policies, training, and procedures, which results in building a positive, engaging and inclusive safety culture.

 

Responsibilities

  • Builds positive, collaborative relationships at all levels of the PFT EMEIA sites Manufacturing, Service, RD and Warehouse sites in creation of a zero-incident culture which results in attainment of EHS goals and objectives.
  • Implements at all sites applicable EHS policies, procedures, training, auditing, reporting and tracking processes in compliance with Ingersoll Rand requirements; local rules and regulations.
  • Validates, via auditing data entry and uses established tools & processes to ensure data accuracy, analyzes trends and delivers reports in a timely manner including incident reporting, auditing, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information. Leads efforts in continuous process improvement across the entire Region.
  • Implements the contactor management and visitor security/safety program.
  • Audit hazardous waste and non-hazardous materials for verification to the Ingersoll Rand and local requirements. Manages all environmental risks including waste, water and air emissions to ensure all sites are in compliance with applicable legal obligations and permit requirements.
  • Involvement in the EHS due diligence process and integration of Ingersoll Rand standards for new acquisitions and lead the EHS swim lane for all Platform Acquisitions.
  • Lead and advise incident, injury and near miss reporting. Ensure root cause analysis on incidents and injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent their recurrence.
  • Coach/mentor PFT Site Leaders and local EH&S professionals on safe work practices, hazard identification and risk management including establishing and leading a safety committee.
  • To reach the PFT environmental goals in sustainable operations by leading the Ingersoll Rand Sustainability efforts including GreenX efforts including project management of sustainable projects for PFT.
  • Audit risk assessments and recommend control measures for all potential areas of concern.
  • Guide site emergency response teams to ensure appropriate training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness and crisis management. Ensure drills and equipment are in a ready state and effective communication of responsibilities to personnel.
  • Participate on the Weekly Health and Safety & Operationalizing Sustainability IDM Meeting with the ownership of related action plan.
  • Help sites within the Platform succeed in EHS (ie Gensuite data, Standard Work, EHS Initiatives such as Earth Day/Safety Day, Special Projects such as Machine Safety, and Sustainability Projects tracking and implementation).
  • Report Platform EHS data to the Platform Business Leaders regularly but at least monthly and be part of the Global EHS Steering Committee.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Occupational Safety, Life Safety, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • One or more safety and/or environmental-related or environmental professional certifications desired

 

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

Flexible working, hybrid, 40% travel across EMEIA

 

Key Competencies

  • 10+ years of experience with an emphasis in safety as well as environmental & health and sustainability management in a heavy manufacturing, industrial environment.
  • 3+ years of experience as an effective leader, motivator and coach.
