Job Description for - Design Engineer

Job Title: Design Engineer.

Reporting: Manager Engineering – Air Treatment

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for the product design & development of Ingersoll Rand's Air Treatment product portfolio, including various types of compressed air dryers and chillers.
  • Create the system 3D Modeling, Parts/ Sub system, optimize the layout of refrigeration system.
  • Design the new/Improved sheet metal cabinets, copper piping layout and Optmize part level/system level to make it compact and understand the clear understanding of the ease of manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure engineering deliverables meet business objectives.
  • Candidate meets the First pass yield and on time delivery for assigned design work.
  • Lead the design work with platform Startegy and make release plan with full ownership.
  • Organize the BOM/ Option items/ part commonization strategy to make the best design solution.
  • Use Ingersoll Rand’ s IRPX phase gate process for new development and i2V (innovate to Value) projects.

Essential Skills (Key Competencies):

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in developing large / medium size industrial product packages using Creo 6.0 or later versions or Solid Works 2020 or later version. Experience in developing sheet metal assemblies, small / medium size complex piping assemblies, and integration of components in a package is essential.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in applying GD&T and Tolerance stake up in drawings using international standards.
  • 2+ years of experience in selection and integration of copper tubing, flanges and other components used in refrigeration systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in creation and optimization of product BOM, Cost roll up, cost optimization, cost reduction etc..

Qualification & Experience

  • BTech or equivalent in mechanical engineering / MTech in Design.
  • 4 ~ 6 years of Experience in product engineering in any reputed Industrial engineering company.
  • Tool skills – excellent CAD skills in Creo or Solid Works

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in managing the full product design and development lifecycle, including modifications throughout the product’s lifespan.
  • Strong understanding of design and manufacturing principles.
  • Understand the PLM ECN process, Release plan, Implementation and follows best engineering practice.
  • Understand the vapor compression system and components.
  • Capable of estimating product costs with accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Effective in conflict resolution and applying critical thinking to solve engineering challenges.

  • Proactive, self-motivating with ability to develop own priorities.
  • Must be fluent in English and very good ability in presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel both domestic and international as and when required,
  • Flexible, adaptable, and eager to deliver timely results despite unanticipated challenges.
