Frontend Engineer - E-Commerce

Summary:

We are on the lookout for a talented Frontend Developer with expertise in Next.js and React to play a crucial role in building and enhancing our B2B E-Commerce store. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works. You will work closely with backend developers, UX/UI designers, and the product owner to ensure a seamless and engaging user experience that integrates flawlessly with our commercetools backend.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the frontend of our E-Commerce platform using Next.js, React, and related technologies, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement visual and interactive elements that users engage with through their web browser.
  • Collaborate closely with the website development team to create components that can be directly integrated into the websites for our 80+ brands.
  • Participate in the design and architecture of the platform, suggesting and implementing improvements to the user interface.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UX/UI designs and translate them into high-quality code.
  • Work with backend developers to consume RESTful APIs and ensure seamless data exchange between the frontend and the backend systems.
  • Contribute to the development of reusable code and libraries for future use.

 

Qualifications:

  • Eagerness to learn and grow, curiosity about technology, and diligent approach.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Frontend Developer with a strong portfolio showcasing E-Commerce platforms, specifically with Next.js and React. Experience with Angular and TypeScript is a plus, as is experience with the commercetools framework.
  • Proficiency in web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3, and server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, familiarity with GraphQL is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Figma is a plus, with the ability to translate UI/UX design wireframes into actual code.
  • Good understanding of SEO principles and the ability to implement them in practical applications.
  • Experience with SCRUM or other agile development methodologies, and experience with version control software and principles (e.g., GIT, gitflow)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication skills (English), both verbal and written, with the capability to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.

 

Additional Notes:

Familiarity with cloud services (GCP, Azure) and experience with commercetools platform will greatly enhance your candidacy. Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Context API), familiarity with modern build pipelines and tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel, npm), are highly desirable. Experience with design systems is a plus. An interest in staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies is essential for success in this role.
