Job Summary
The role is responsible for assisting in the execution and maintenance of large, complex projects. The individual will collaborate with business partners to deliver on objectives enabling the business strategy. The role requires skills in supporting new processes and capabilities to accelerate value creation within global logistics. Supports building a ‘Best in Class’ logistics function within the business by expanding our logistics capabilities in region.
Responsibilities
- Proactively explores projects to identify cost, optimization and process improvement opportunities. Synthesize the results in a clear and concise manner, present to executive management, and work to implement the solution.
- Assist in building and implementing a robust transportation management process:
- Contributes to the development of new projects and procedures; solves problems through the application of strong analytical skills, creativity and judgment
- Impacts business performance and operational efficiency through the delivery of results
- Ensures carriers perform from a service and quality perspective while being cost competitive
- Maintains core business applications (user access, carrier tariffs and general systems data)
- Research and analyze transportation and supply chain opportunities globally utilizing data maintained in various databases
- Support implementation of operational solutions on a network level
- Understanding of internal processes to enhance cross-functional initiatives and effectively communicate/integrate improvements
- Research root-cause of issues, recommend improvements in existing processes and implement action plans
- Support management of performance to established KPI’s to improve customer satisfaction, cost leverage and total cost productivity
- Monitor all global logistics & distribution Playbooks and report the information to appropriate teams to facilitate effective management
- Develop processes to consolidate information from numerous data sources, providing the business with key insights and recommendations to drive improvement
- Lead supporting activities for Logistics Strategy Deployment:
- Measure the current maturity and gaps by region / location using quantitative & qualitative inputs from internal & external partners
- Assist in data collection, analysis and preparation of business cases in order to support business strategy deployment.
- Ensure sites are using contracted carriers, controlling additional requirements to accomplish service quality and cost
- Support carrier implementation and performance process:
- Carrier enablement in Transportation Management System (TMS)
- Logistics playbooks, carrier metrics and key performance indicators
- Carrier freight invoice payment process compliance
- Additonal initiatives/projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or related field
- 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Operations or related field
- business acumen, analytical thinking and organizational skills
- Experience in logistics related projects and process development skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence at all levels of the organization, as well as strong relationship management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio
- ERP experience (Oracle / SAP) a plus
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management System and Transportation Management System a plus
- Familiarity with Value Stream Mapping
- Strong presentations skills
- Occasional travel, up to 10% (domestic and/or international)
