Job Summary

 

The Shipping Team Lead is responsible for overseeing all export operations from the Tongeren distribution center, ensuring fast and accurate shipment processing. This role coordinates daily export activities with 3PL partners, carriers, brokers, Customer Experience teams, and customers to secure timely collections, correct documentation, and smooth outbound flows. The Shipping Team Lead resolves operational issues, manages carrier exceptions and returns, handles customer tracking inquiries, submits transport damage claims, and ensures compliance with export requirements—including Certificates of Origin. Additionally, the role drives process improvements, collaborates cross‑functionally to reduce errors and cycle time, and supports the automation of shipping document flows to enhance operational efficiency.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the Daily Export Call with 3PL
  • Ensure the cycle time from packed to shipped is minimised
  • Ensure the Shipping Team obtain Shipping Instructions from CX and customers
  • Work with IR-appointed carriers to ensure collection on time
  • Ensure 3PL meets SLAs on the export process
  • Ensure Broker meets SLA on generating Export documents
  • Ensure the Shipping Team work with Customer Experience and customers for timely collections
  • Resolve issues with errors on orders (wrong incoterms, address issues, etc.)
  • Responsible for Country of Origin evidence gathering and submission to the Chamber of Commerce to obtain Certificates of Origin for Export
  • Ensure the Shipping Team Resolve daily Carrier Exceptions with 3PL & Carriers
  • Ensure the Shipping Team Manage & resolve Carrier returns
  • Point of contact for customers for queries relating to outbound tracking & lost shipments
  • Submitting claims with Carriers for transport Damage
  • Ensure an efficient Process is in place to move Weekly  recurring shipments for Intercomany Exports to minimise pack to ship cycle time
  • Work with Customer Experience to resolve recurring errors on orders that prevent shipments from moving smoothly
  • Working with IT to make changes to Shipping documents to align with Export requirements
  • Collaborate with Customer Experience to improve Export and Ex-Works process flow to minimise Pack to Ship Cycle Time
  • Automating document flows to reduce manual handling and deliver Export documents to the point of shipment

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Demonstrated experience in export logistics and coordination with 3PL partners, carriers, and brokers.
  • Strong working knowledge of export documentation, compliance standards, and Incoterms.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and support a high‑performing operational team.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with a track record of resolving shipping exceptions and improving process efficiency.
  • Confident user of ERP/WMS systems with a continuous‑improvement mindset and openness to digital process enhancements.
