Summary:

We are searching for a self-motivated senior engineer, with a proven track-record of complex product delivery, to lead the development of new electro-mechanical products. Responsibilities will include working alongside other team members and consultants, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, managing system requirements, using modeling and simulation software to produce detailed designs, ensuring projects remain within budgetary and time constraints, and pushing the boundaries of innovation.

 

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will take technical lead on specific projects as identified by the Engineering Manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing problems and coming up with innovative designs to solve them
  • Networking and collaborating with other engineers and professionals
  • Exploring the design space and new technologies to overcome complex challenges
  • Taking design ownership responsibility for large projects with extensive scope / high complexity Creating / improving product design data as required (3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Material, etc.)
  • Working within the budget to deliver safe and efficient products on time
  • Developing design prototypes and sub-system mock ups
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing test plans, and directs or executes testing activities as needed
  • Analyzing data for analytical purposes and to write up reports
  • Attending meetings and providing input and updates
  • Communicating with staff, directors, and clients
  • Allocating resources and time effectively
  • Coordinating internal and external resources as needed
  • Verifying designs through calculation / analysis / computer aided modeling methods
  • Creating reports that measure progress on assigned projects

  • Can lead and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to make decisions in high-stress situations
  • Excellent visualization & conceptualization skills
  • Communicates clearly.  Verbally can create “clear pictures” for others.  Unambiguous and decisive written communications (specifications, plans, presentations, etc.)
  • Must be able to develop relevant experiment designs, analyze data, form appropriate conclusions, and create appropriate models needed for system simulation
  • Organization Skills – tracks status of multiple projects.  Ability to organize and prioritize
  • Superb creativity, vision, and inventiveness
  • Must have proven track record in root cause identification, developing & implementing solutions related to products and processes
  • Demonstrates ability to apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling required.  Preferably experience with Inventor.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, basic electronics, PLC logic, pressure vessels, gas compression, fluid transfer, and / or fluid dynamics preferred.
  • Familiarity with high-pressure gases a plus

 

 

 

  • Previous experience must lie in industrial / commercial product design as an engineer developing and releasing new products

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent with at least 8 - 10 years of practical applicable experience
  • Master’s Degree in a technical discipline preferred

 

TRAVEL:

  • 5 to 20% domestic and/or international

  • Ensuring on-the-job training to new and transferred employees is provided. 
  • Communicating relevant information regarding quality and EH&S to employees.
  • Conducting EH&S management audits, identifying root causes of deficiencies and implementing preventive/corrective actions
  • Conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing preventive/corrective actions 
  • Performing periodic (at least annually) reviews of procedures, work instructions and Job Hazard and Environment Analysis (JHA)
  • Encouraging active participation of employees in quality, environmental and health and safety related issues, or harassment.

 

 

 

 

 

LIP (Local Incentive Plan( Eligible Role:

The pay range for this role is $98,400 - $204,500, excluding incentive opportunities. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Ingersoll Rand, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
