Regional Sales Manager – Progressive Cavity Pumps (India)

Chennai,India (Regional coverage, with focus on key industrial hubs)

Job Summary:

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will be responsible for driving sales and revenue growth of progressive cavity pumps (PCPs) across the assigned regions. This role will involve building and nurturing relationships with new and existing customers, identifying market opportunities, and managing the full sales cycle. The RSM will work closely with the technical and support teams to deliver customized solutions to clients in diverse industries such as oil and gas, water treatment, food and beverage, chemicals, mining, and others.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Sales Strategy and Planning:

- Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve sales targets for progressive cavity pumps across India.

- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities, target industries, and customer needs.

- Analyze market trends and competitor activity to develop a competitive sales approach.

- Increase the funnel size from the assigned region.

 

2. Customer Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, engineers, consultants, and distributors.

- Develop a deep understanding of customer requirements to offer tailored solutions using PCPs.

- Provide technical support and guidance to customers on product selection and application.

 

3. Sales Execution:

- Lead the entire sales process from lead generation, product presentations, negotiation, to closing the sale.

- Coordinate with the engineering and product teams to ensure timely delivery and installation of pumps and associated equipment.

- Develop and deliver effective product presentations and demonstrations to customers.

 

4. Market Penetration & Expansion:

- Identify and target new clients in key industrial sectors where PCPs can offer a significant advantage.

- Increase market share in existing client accounts and expand into untapped regions or industries.

- Foster partnerships with distributors, channel partners, and other stakeholders to expand reach.

 

5. Technical Knowledge & Support:

- Possess in-depth technical knowledge of progressive cavity pumps, their applications, and advantages.

- Provide technical support to clients and assist with troubleshooting and maintenance queries.

- Collaborate with the technical team for product customization or application-specific solutions.

 

6. Sales Reporting & Forecasting:

- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and opportunities in CRM/Excel tools.

- Provide regular sales forecasts, performance reports, and market intelligence to the senior management.

- Monitor and report on key performance metrics such as sales revenue, conversion rates, and customer satisfaction.

 

7. Training & Development:

- Stay updated on product innovations, industry trends, and competitor products.

- Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical and sales skills.

 

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; MBA or sales certification is a plus.

- 5+ years of experience in sales or business development in industrial equipment, ideally with experience selling progressive cavity pumps, pumps, or similar fluid handling equipment.

- Strong technical understanding of pump applications, industrial processes, and fluid handling.

- Proven track record in sales, with the ability to meet and exceed targets.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach and the ability to work independently.

- Willingness to travel extensively within the region.

 

 

Desired Skills & Attributes:

- Strong network within key industries such as oil and gas, water treatment, chemicals, and food and beverage.

- Problem-solving skills and the ability to offer technical solutions to complex challenges.

- Experience working with distributors, OEMs, and engineering contractors.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP will be a plus.
