Role Overview
The Aftermarket Business Development Manager (BDM) – Blower & Vacuum is a strategic commercial role responsible for growing aftermarket revenue while building the systems, processes, and infrastructure required to support a scalable aftermarket business across Australia.
This position focuses on aftermarket sales, account development, and operational enablement. The role works closely with customers, internal service partners, and internal product teams to ensure efficient quoting, parts availability, service coordination, and lifecycle support for installed blower, vacuum, compressed air, and associated air systems.
The role is national in scope and suits an individual who combines technical understanding with structured commercial thinking and enjoys creating order, capability, and repeatable processes within an aftermarket environment.
Key Responsibilities
Aftermarket Sales & Account Management
- Own and develop a national aftermarket customer portfolio for blower, vacuum, and air systems.
- Build long-term, trusted relationships with councils, utilities, infrastructure operators, and industrial customers.
- Identify and develop aftermarket revenue opportunities including service agreements, spare parts supply, upgrades, retrofits, and lifecycle support.
- Act as the primary commercial interface between customers and the business for all aftermarket-related matters.
- Support customer reviews, site visits, and strategic discussions focused on asset performance, reliability, and long-term support planning.
- Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, and technical forums.
Aftermarket Infrastructure & Enablement
- Refine and maintain robust aftermarket quoting processes, including:
- Spare parts identification and pricing
- Service scope definition
- Long term service agreements
- Develop and maintain spare parts structures, pricing models, and recommended stocking strategies.
- Build clear workflows between sales and service partners.
- Improve visibility of the installed base to proactively plan service and upgrade opportunities.
- Ensure aftermarket documentation, service records, and compliance information are aligned with customer and regulatory expectations.
Business Growth & Capability Development
- Identify market trends and installed-base driven growth opportunities across Australia.
- Contribute to the development of a sustainable national aftermarket strategy.
- Support the establishment of:
- Local service capability
- Spare parts distribution and logistics models
- Standardized aftermarket offerings and contracts
- Collaborate with internal teams to localize global aftermarket solutions for Australian market requirements.
- Provide structured market and customer feedback to support continuous improvement.
About You
You are commercially driven, technically literate, and process-focused — comfortable sitting between customers, service operations, and product teams.
You Will Likely Have:
- A mechanical, engineering, or technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in aftermarket sales, service management, or technical business development roles.
- Strong exposure to blowers, vacuum systems, compressed air, rotating equipment, or similar industrial systems.
- Experience working with councils, utilities, or infrastructure operators.
- A structured mindset and the ability to build repeatable processes around quoting, parts, and service support.
- Confidence leading technical-commercial discussions without being hands-on.
- Ability to work autonomously across a national territory with regular customer travel.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
