Known as the fourth utility, compressed air powers many critical manufacturing operations and processes. It is vital to the productivity of many industries and greatly contributes to the overall economy.

 

Working on a service team with other technicians, this position will perform all phases of field service work on centrifugal air compressors and at times rotary compressors as well. This involves supervision of the installation and startup of new equipment; on-site major repairs; detailed troubleshooting and any other phase of compressor repair. While the position is mostly independent, there will be instances where you may be working with others on larger jobs. 

 

  

Responsibilities:

  • Insure the correct installation, maintenance and field repair of the equipment manufactured and sold by Ingersoll Rand at the purchaser's location.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field installation and repair requirements of this equipment.
  • Be able to travel immediately to all job sites when requested to do so.  Maintain an active passport for international travel when the need arises. Monday-Friday travel is typical.
  • Provide technical advice and be able to train customers, potential customers, field salesmen and field service trainees.
  • Must be able to diagnose problems and recommend corrective action in this unsupervised environment, and the incumbent must also be able to submit clear, accurate records and/or oral reports to the manufacturing facility.  
  •  Must maintain a high degree of integrity in the way he handles business affairs.
  • Maintain proper written and oral communication skills to transfer information related to service work in a concise and logical manner.
  • Submit detailed technical reports on each service call in legible fashion, suitable for billing customers.
  • Submit accurate, detailed & timely expense account records along with timecards on a weekly basis. Maintain good financial records and practices to manage company business matters, credit cards, and if required, a company car.
  • Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Follow all company and departmental procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Desired applicants will have 3-5 years’ experience of troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems. Experience on compressed air systems/centrifugal technologies/solid controls background is a plus.  While not required, those with knowledge in the service, diagnosis, and startup of both rotary and centrifugal air compressors, including dryers, cooling towers, and filtration systems are encouraged to apply.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Desired degree program in Electrical/Electronics Technology or HVAC with basic knowledge of some or all of the following: AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams/schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity, controls, refrigeration systems and/or refrigerant certification. Candidates who possess this knowledge or skills but have not completed a formal program may be considered. Military experience and/or sufficient mechanical working experience is a plus.  

 

  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and other basic computer usage.  Working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad) and network bases.
  • Customer service skills Ex: conflict resolution, negotiation
  • Candidates will use Ingersoll Rand provided tools
  • Attend required Ingersoll Rand training
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI in the previous 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • EPA 608 /F-GAS 303/2008/CE/ISHRAE Certification Preferred (Refrigeration experience/certification a plus).
