Job Summary
The IT Director for Engineering and Process Automation COE will lead the strategic planning, governance, and operational execution of enterprise engineering software platforms across all business segments. This role is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of applications such as PLM, CAD/CAE, ALM, and simulation tools, ensuring alignment with business goals, maximizing ROI, and driving digital transformation across engineering and other functions. The role will have the accountabilities to drive the process automation across functions and build the architecture and innovation delivery frameworks.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Vision Alignment: Drive the future vision across Design, Manufacturing, and Service Engineering for both products and services.
- Platform Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for engineering software platforms like PLM (e.g., Windchill), CAD/CAE, and simulation tools.
- Governance & Compliance: Lead portfolio governance aligned with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, and IT to prioritize initiatives and manage dependencies.
- Automation & Innovation: Champion process automation using modern tools like RPA and drive architecture & innovation frameworks.
Portfolio & Program Management
- Program Oversight: Oversee major engineering IT programs including PDM, ERP integrations, platform upgrades, and digital twin initiatives.
- Vendor & Financial Management: Manage vendor relationships, licensing, and software spend; track KPIs and financial performance.
Operational Excellence
- Application Reliability: Ensure high availability and performance of engineering applications through strong run-and-maintain practices.
- Tool Standardization: Drive tool consolidation across business units, especially during M&A and post-acquisition phases.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Modernization & Trends: Promote DevOps, cloud-native practices, and emerging technologies to enhance engineering productivity and digital capabilities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 7 years managing engineering software portfolios.
- Proven experience with PLM, CAD/CAE, ERP integration, and digital engineering platforms.
- Familiarity with tools like Windchill, SAP, JDE, Oracle, and simulation platforms.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering environments.
- Strong vendor management, financial acumen, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Experience in automation, architecture and innovation delivery
