Job Summary
The post holder is a field service engineer working across our customer install base which is predominantly in the South of England. They are responsible for the service, maintenance, repair and installation of compressors and compressed air equipment. They will ensure their work is carried out safely, effectively and efficiently whist complying with our safe systems of work and quality procedures. They will be part of a dynamic, pro-active and supportive Service Team and will uphold and demonstrate our core values in their approach and attitude.
Responsibilities
- Servicing. The post holder will service, maintain and repair customer equipment in line with the prescribed service schedules. They will work on customer paying and warranty jobs delivering a first in class experience. They will provide detailed and accurate job reports in a timely fashion.
- Margin control. The post holder will assist with effective margin control by doing their tasks right first time, within budget and on schedule. They will work to prevent unnecessary re-work and will communicate effectively with support staff to ensure work scopes are well defined.
- Service team. The post holder will communicate well with all the service team – the support staff, the engineers and the service manager. They will play a critical role in ensuring work scopes are understood and implemented. They will provide a sounding board for their colleagues in relation to technical queries and faults.
- Mentoring. Where their experience allows, the post holder will assist with the mentoring of apprentice engineers, imparting their knowledge, monitoring their performance and feedback pertinent concerns to the service manager.
- Health and safety. The post holder will embrace and promote a culture of safety in the workplace. They will be responsible for ensuring safe systems of work are deployed and will monitor, report and close out EHS incidents as they arise that are relevant to them.
- Troubleshooting. The post holder will ensure customers problems and technical queries are resolved in a timely and professional manner, maximizing uptime of the equipment that the depot services.
- On call. The post holder will be part of an effective 24/7 on call rota to ensure client needs are serviced all year round.
- Recommendations. The service engineer will feed back service recommendation opportunities where applicable to support staff and the sales team so that additional revenue can be captured.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
Field based with requirements to travel into the office regularly
Key Competencies
- Demonstrable understanding and competency in mechanical and electrical engineering/ machine maintenance.
- Experience of adhering to Safe Systems of Work.
- Experience in the Compressed Air industry highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A Customer-Focused attitude and approach.
- Ability to articulate embodiment of company values.
- Proficient IT skills.
