Job Summary

The Projects Account Manager: Whole Goods (WG) is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Whole Goods projects, from order handover through to installation, commissioning, and final customer acceptance.

This role acts as the primary point of accountability for project execution within the assigned region. It requires close coordination across internal teams (sales, supply chain, and service) as well as external partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and in line with customer expectations.

While the role maintains visibility of the customer relationship, the primary focus is on execution, planning, and delivery. The Projects Account Manager ensures clear communication, manages risks and issues proactively, and maintains control across multiple active projects.

 

Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Execution (Primary)

  • Take full ownership of assigned Whole Goods projects from order handover through to final delivery and customer acceptance.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure delivery is on time, within scope, and aligned to agreed specifications.
  • Identify and proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Support margin protection by managing scope, controlling variations, and escalating commercial risks where needed.
  • Work closely with service teams to ensure successful installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.
  • Provide clear and consistent reporting on project status, risks, and recovery plans.

Customer & Project Pipeline Development (Secondary)

  • Build and manage relationships with key customers, consultants, and industry stakeholders to drive new project opportunities and strengthen the pipeline.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities within the assigned market and customer base.
  • Support the development of a sustainable pipeline of Whole Goods projects aligned to business targets.
  • Engage early in the project lifecycle (with customers and consultants) to position IR solutions.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in project coordination, project management, or execution within an industrial or equipment environment.
  • Experience working with capital equipment, installation projects, or technical products will be an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles (planning, scheduling, risk management, and reporting).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.

 

 

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

  • Role is based in Johannesburg (Jet Park).
  • Hybrid working approach, with flexibility based on business and project requirements.
  • Travel required within the assigned region to support project execution, customer engagement, and site activities (approximately 30–50%).

  • Strong project management capability, with proven experience managing projects from planning through to execution and delivery.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining control over timelines, scope, and quality.
  • Good commercial awareness, with the ability to understand project financials, protect margins, and manage scope changes.
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills across internal teams (sales, supply chain, service) and external partners.
  • Ability to identify risks and issues early and take practical action to resolve or escalate where needed.
  • Confident customer-facing skills, with the ability to manage expectations and maintain credibility during project execution.
  • Ability to identify and develop new project opportunities within existing and new customer environments.
