Job Summary

In this tenured role, which requires you to pull on the knowledge of the product and business you have gained along your career path, the Project Engineer is responsible for successful execution of Ingersoll Rand ETO Rotary Orders and continuous improvement opportunities to elevate the team, the business, and themselves.  The Project Engineer will ensure project requirements are met throughout the life of customer orders and improvement project. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager and Design teams along with the Operations and Manufacturing teams for cross-functional success and customer satisfaction. He/She will attend internal and external (customers, vendors and packagers) kick-off meetings, manage customer communications, and work with Design Engineering, customers and suppliers on scope via technical discussions. Continuous improvement is a cornerstone of Ingersoll Rand Engineering, and the Project Engineer will be heavily involved in guiding and executing projects that improve our efficiency, effectiveness, and capabilities in the eyes of our market and our customers. An ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of project engineering experience, can self-direct, and lead technical conversations with customers and internal teams. The Project Engineer role is an elevated position within the Engineering organization and is a route to career paths of project management, team leadership, and senior-level engineering roles. The Project Engineering role is highly valued and sought after within the organization; it is the customer satisfier, a tenured technical touch point and an effective liaison across all parties required to work together throughout complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide the execution of several project focusing on main item selection, technical alignment with vendors, handling of the contractual documentation to/from customers
  • Lead and coordinate efforts of supporting engineering functions, e.g., Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering.
  • Conduct or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code, and standards. 
  • Perform mental tasks such as critical decision making, organizing many topics, prioritizing work to align with business objectives, and exercising good judgment
  • Demonstrate ability to cope with stress, change and pressure - while maintaining a pleasant and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to travel internationally independently, up to 20%. (Typically<10%) for customer meetings

Basic Qualifications

  • Competency in industrial machinery, general project management, industrial equipment specifications, and documentation workflows.
  • Basic familiarity with the major subsystems and parts of a compressor including the gearbox, lubrication system, intercoolers, controls, and accessories. The incumbent may be asked to give assistance in completing a proposal, help troubleshoot problems in the field or communicate a topic involving this content to the customer. Ability to use 3D model software is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop working relationships with co-workers, suppliers, and customers are essential.
  • Personal computer literacy and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office are essential. SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Education: BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other engineering discipline such chemical, Aeronautic, etc. considered No graduated profile will be evaluated if they have enough experience in similar role.
  • Experience: Relevant experience specific to compression industry, inclusive of 1-2-years of API compliance (this is not mandatory, preferred qualification)
