Ingersoll Rand’s Future Force Early Talent Development Program (ETDP) provides college juniors and seniors with challenging assignments within our Engineering function with intentions to become a permanent IR employee upon graduation from college.  Our program is different because it has two consecutive summer internships and a permanent rotational engineering development program designed to support early career engineers through periodic, structured training and hands-on experiences.  The program combines technical workshops, mentorship, and project-based learning to accelerate growth and prepare participants for future engineering functional roles such as; Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems and Software, R&D and Simulation learning.  Through functional rotations and experiences in multiple disciplines, you will be able to build diverse skill sets and a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling career with Ingersoll Rand.

Ingersoll Rand’s Summer 2026 Power Tool and Lifting Engineering program for 10 – 12 weeks at our Hampton, NJ location.  This program is a paid internship for the Summer 2026.  We offer a lump sum housing stipend and a starting hourly pay rate of $22.50 - $28.50 based on qualifications and experience.  This is a temporary, full-time hourly position.
 
Our ETDP Program for Engineering consists of: 

Engineering ETDP members will develop a solid engineering foundation with skills in key areas that may include New Product Development, Engineering Analysis, FMEA & DFMEA, VA/VE, Six Sigma, Product Design, Component and Reliability Testing, Product Management, Technical Compliance and Communication. Assignments are strategically chosen to ensure continuous learning and personal career development. 

Successful Candidate’s Profile 
Function-specific responsibilities will vary based on the assignment. A successful candidate for Graduate Program Excellence will exhibit the following: 

  • In person work expectations at our Hampton, NJ Engineering Facility – relocation stipend considered.
  • College major concentration should be to achieve an BS/BA in Mechanical, Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and/or Computer Science, with an overall GPA of 3.5 or above at the time the application is submitted. 
  • Commitment to remain in the IR PTL Engineering Future Force program for 2 internship (Junior and Senior year any semester - preferrable summer) programs for a minimum of 3 months and based on evaluations, join the company permanently in job related position within the IR PTL division. 
  • Resilient and able to adapt and respond quickly.  
  • Zeal for new information, knowledge, and experiences; regularly seeking and capitalizing on learning opportunities; quickly assimilating and applying new information. 
  • Motivated to reach higher levels within Ingersoll Rand at an accelerated rate. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills: minimum of two examples such as: School club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership of work projects. 
  • Remain geographically flexible both during and after completion of the program.
