Position Summary
Ingersoll Rand’s Aerospace and Defense Solutions (ADS) engineering organization is seeking two qualified engineering students to support the development and testing of Portable Life Support System (PLSS) technologies at our Houston office. This summer program provides practical, hands‑on engineering experience within a multidisciplinary team responsible for advancing critical life-support hardware.
The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate strong analytical capability, initiative, and the ability to contribute meaningfully in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Texas‑based university or is a Texas resident pursuing an engineering degree.
- Actively working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline).
- Able to work onsite at the Houston, TX location during the summer months (approximately June – August)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist engineering staff in the development, testing, and evaluation of PLSS components and subsystems.
- Perform data collection, data analysis, and documentation activities to support ongoing test campaigns.
- Support troubleshooting efforts, root‑cause investigations, and resolution of technical issues.
- Contribute to engineering documentation, including test procedures, design updates, and configuration records.
- Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and cross‑functional coordination activities.
Required Qualifications
- Fundamental understanding of engineering principles within the candidate’s field of study.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship, laboratory, or project experience involving hardware development or system testing.
- Familiarity with life-support systems, thermal/fluid systems, or materials engineering.
- Experience with engineering tools such as CAD software, data acquisition systems, or test instrumentation.
