Mechanical Engineer II

The goal of this role is to focus on improving safety, quality, and on-time customer delivery. The candidate will resolve quality issues and improve designs using their own creativity all while reducing costs. This candidates’ obligations will be focused heavily on providing hands on technical support to all existing products, and manufacturing processes. These products may include pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic driven pumps and other fluid handling systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and conceptualization skills, proven ability to communicate effectively with different tiers of employees, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while prioritizing multiple projects at once.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prevent engineering related assembly line shutdowns by supporting production through BOM, drawing changes, and part and pump dispositions
  • Lead cross functional teams to drive incremental improvements in existing products, manufacturing methods, and processes
  • Participate in new engineering development projects by assisting in design reviews and providing technical guidance assistance as required
  • Support Quality and Service in resolving design and field issues by identifying root cause of component failure
  • Assist EH&S department by identifying root cause investigations and implement engineering solutions to prevent re-occurrence
  • Create/improve product design data and implement product enhancements as required (3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Material, etc.)
  • Verify designs through calculation/analysis/computer aided modeling methods
  • Redesign or reconfigure existing processes and standard work to increase productivity
  • Configure products in our ERP system – JD Edwards a plus.
  • Experience with Driveworks to reduce or eliminate Engineering’s time spent on processing orders a plus.
  • Help Sales obtain new certifications in order to open into new markets (IECEx, ATEX, ETL, NSF, etc.); Maintain existing certifications; Provide factory audit support
  • Support cost reduction efforts by responding to supplier issues and questions (Drawings and BOMs, material specs, etc.)
  • Investigate and remedy root cause of product/part & customer escapes while implementing solutions to avoid future occurrences
  • Lead value engineering projects and redesign to reduce cost; validate new designs through lab testing
  • Investigate and respond to questions from customers concerning NACE, Material specs, compliance to API, questions about products, product enhancements, etc.
  • Coordinate external and internal resources as needed
  • Coordinate several large projects with large scope/high complexity and/or multiple medium projects with medium scope and complexity
  • Report progress on assigned projects
  • Verify designs through calculation, analysis, or computer aided modeling methods when necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2-5 years’ practical hands on experience in mechanical engineering or industrial/commercial product manufacturing
  • 3D CAD Modeling experience required (Solidworks preferred)
  • Proven track record in implementing cost reduction/process
  • Exceptional ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong professional communication skills required, both verbal and written
