Job Summary

The Operations Manager High Pressure, forms part of the Redditch Senior Management Team and will play a key role in overseeing production processes, optimising resource allocation and ensuring adherence to safety, quality and efficiency standards.  This role demands strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes especially in high precision and complex assembly settings and experienced in managing cross functional teams within a manufacturing environment.  The ideal candidate will be skilled in process improvement, supply chain coordination, and data driven decision making to achieve production targets and strategic business objectives.

 

Responsibilities

Production Management: Oversee day-to-day operations in the manufacturing facility, ensuring that production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and resource utilization is optimized. Coordinate complex assembly workflows, ensuring seamless collaboration across production, engineering, and quality control teams.

Continuous Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity. Identify bottlenecks in the assembly process and recommend solutions.

Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and motivate a cross-functional team, including supervisors, operators, and technical staff. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork within the operations division.

Quality Assurance & Compliance: work with the Quality Team to ensure all operations meet or exceed quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry-specific certifications such as ISO 9001.

Health & Safety: Champion health and safety initiatives, conducting regular risk assessments and ensuring adherence to HSE regulations. Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the manufacturing environment.

Supply Chain & Inventory Management: Collaborate closely with supply chain and procurement teams to manage inventory levels, reduce lead times, and secure the materials needed for complex assemblies. Ensure that parts and components are available to meet production deadlines.

Budget & Cost Control: Monitor operational budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving measures. Prepare forecasts, analyse performance metrics, and report regularly on operational KPIs to senior management.

Stakeholder Communication: Act as the key contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, finance, sales, and customer service teams, ensuring alignment on production goals and project timelines.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Green belt or higher Lean practitioner.

 

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

Fully site based

 

Key Competencies

  • Proven experience in operations management within a manufacturing or complex assembly environment.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP and production planning systems.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards within the manufacturing environment.
