Job Summary
To lead and coordinate new product development and customer specific projects, ensuring the projects are delivered on time and achieve all the documented requirements. The individual will lead a range of projects within the Ingersoll Rand Transport Solutions group, leading meetings, progressing actions and maintaining project documentation.
The varied role will cover the full Transport product range and will focus on ensuring our products meet the needs of our customers from a technical and commercial perspective. The role will require the individual to work effectively across multiple locations (UK, Europe and India) and work in conjunction with the wider Transport team.
Working closely with Product Management and Engineering, the Project Manager will ensure all projects follow the standard IR NPD process and ensure that all projects have a strong commercial justification and product definition that is aligned with the product line strategy.
This role is considered an invaluable member of the Transport team, and the individual must have the drive, tenacity, vision and interpersonal skills to succeed in a fast-moving and result-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to multi-functional teams (Product Management, engineering, Sales, operations, purchasing, finance, etc.) for all designated projects. This will include new product development, customer projects, I2V (Innovate to Value) and quality improvement projects.
- Maintain appropriate project documentation to provide an audit trail and clear visibility of project status
- Works with the relevant teams to address any capacity issues to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and meet the agreed specification. Escalate issues in a timely to allow effective corrective action
- Ensure all NPD projects follow the standard IR NPD process and work with Product Management to agree project priorities and deliverables
- Actively involved in all NPD decisions and activities (Business case, concept, design, build, test, release and production).
- Provide a structured monthly project review update which can be reviewed by senior management and multi-functional leader. Therefore, ensuring all interested parties are aware of progress and any issues.
- Maintain an overview of project costs, capital investments, updated projected revenues and profitability so that we have a continued and clear commercial understanding of all projects
- Provide support for customer & quality audits to demonstrate project management capability.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong technical background with a relevant Degree or equivalent education.
- Ideally from a Project Management background but individuals experienced in Product Management, Engineering or Operations would be considered
- Experience within Manufacturing & Engineering industries and ideally from the Automotive Industry
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
Flexible working, travel required to other sites in the UK and Europe
