Job Summary

The Quality Engineer shall plan and coordinate quality activities in conjunction with the Quality Manager to ensure all components; processes and product meet the specified requirements. Provides assistance to departments to resolve processing issues and promotes continuous improvement. Provides quality planning and training as necessary to support the successful launch of new parts, processes and products. Investigate and resolve Customer Complaints and Warranty claims and assess their causes to close out. Liaise with suppliers and internal operations to effectively resolve all issues, promote quality, productivity improvements and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all purchasing functions related to the procurement of goods and/or raw materials as assigned, including source selection, negotiations, order placement and follow up.  Negotiate prices and lead times with vendors that are not part of a corporate contracts.  Resolves all supplier issues related to quotation conflicts.
  • Using Quality Tools for the Analysis of defects in materials and products and recommends corrective measures to maintain quality standards. Maintains and continually improves the quality of the product, monitor & report quality KPI’s.
  • Drives corrective and preventative actions including process and product design improvements for procedural, product or product deficiencies through the analysis of data.
  • Playing an active role in quality improvement programs to improve the product and processes, by using and promoting lean thinking and processes to continuously improve.
  • Process Customer complaints & warranty issues.
  • Ensure that the quality assurance measures prescribed within the company procedures are adhered to at any stage of manufacture.
  • Inspection of product to company and customer specifications.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.
  • Planning and conducting Internal Audits of plant processes and working practices to ensure compliance and  the resolution of non-conformances.
  • Attend daily SQDIP meetings, investigate, resolve & report shop floor quality issues.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience working within a similar role within an engineering environment.
  • HND or HNC qualification, preferable time served apprentice.    

 

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

Fully site based.

 

Key Competencies

  • Knowledge of ISO management systems
  • Experience of being a QE in a manufacturing environment
  • Use of SAP Quality Management
  • Problem solving using 8D (or other tools)
  • Compressor product technical knowledge
  • Auditing experience (System, product, process)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings
