Job Summary
The Quality Engineer shall plan and coordinate quality activities in conjunction with the quality team to ensure all components; processes and products meet the specified requirements. Provide assistance to departments to resolve assembly or test issues and promotes continuous improvement. Provide quality planning and training as necessary to support the successful launch of new parts, processes and products. Investigate and resolve Customer Complaints and support Warranty claims investigation. Liaise with suppliers and internal operations to effectively resolve all issues, promote quality, productivity improvements and cost reduction.
Responsibilities
- Day to day support of the manufacturing cells:
- Leading root cause analysis investigations including ownership of problem definition, implementation of containment and working with cross functional teams to ensure robust corrective actions.
- 8D completion for internal and external issues
- RFT (Right first time) tracking and improvement
- Providing feedback to manufacturing team (all levels from Operators to Senior Management team)
- Representing quality at daily production meetings
- Product and Process audits
- Control Plan maintenance
- Providing required data to support PPAP submissions
- Using data to define priorities
- Own to resolution customer complaints
- Internal and external audits to ISO9001 and / or IATF16949 requirements
- Represent department during external audits
- Supporting the engineering change process and actions required to control changes
- Scrap processing and scrap investigation and reduction
- Project work to lead or support Lean/continuous improvement activities
- Provide technical support for internal and external customers
- Maintain quality KPI’s
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role
Basic Qualifications
- HNC or Degree in Mechanical, electrical or manufacturing engineering (or relevant experience)
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
Fully site based
Key Competencies
- Proven experience in / with ISO & IATF management systems
- Experience of being a QE in a manufacturing environment (Ideally an automotive assembly environment using machined components)
- Use of SAP Quality Management
- Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel)
- Problem solving using 8D (or other tools)
- Auditing experience (System, product, process)
- Strong analytical skills
