GenAI Technical Lead

Role Summary

Lead the development and deployment of GenAI solutions for Ingersoll Rand's Asia Pacific operations. This role bridges data engineering, modern analytics platforms, and enterprise AI to deliver intelligent, scalable business applications. You will architect data-AI solutions using platforms like Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP, or Chinese equivalents (Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud), focusing on practical implementation rather than theoretical model development. Success requires strong data pipeline expertise, SQL/Python proficiency, user collaboration, and staying current with APAC's evolving AI landscape.

The Core Challenge

Most GenAI capabilities (RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering) are rapidly commoditizing through platform services. The real challenge is data—building robust pipelines, integrations, APIs, and middleware that enable AI applications to work reliably at scale. This role has an important component on working with data teams on architecture, engineering, and platform expertise alongside GenAI application development.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Regional Leadership: Drive APAC AI adoption aligned with global strategy. Stay current on local AI trends, compliance requirements (China's GenAI regulations), and market developments. Build AI literacy and manage local vendor partnerships.

Solution Architecture: Translate business needs into data-AI solutions. Design technical architecture emphasizing data pipelines, ETL workflows, API integrations, and platform services. Adapt global frameworks for local requirements (data compliance, cloud platforms, model integration).

Hands-On Implementation: Build and deploy GenAI applications using modern data platforms. Develop ETL pipelines, data models, and analytics workflows. Write SQL and Python for custom integrations. Create dashboards and visualizations to measure AI impact.

User Collaboration & Change Management: Work directly with business stakeholders to understand needs, demonstrate solutions, and drive AI adoption. Lead technical validation and product ownership. Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

Continuous Innovation: Research emerging AI tools and platforms relevant to APAC. Evaluate and integrate new capabilities. Scale prototypes to enterprise-grade solutions. Balance innovation with practical delivery.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years in data engineering, analytics platforms, or AI solution development; 2+ years in technical leadership

• 1+ years hands-on GenAI experience (enterprise deployment, not just R&D) with familiarity of major platforms (OpenAI, LLaMA, or Chinese models like DeepSeek, Qwen)

• Strong data platform experience (Snowflake/AWS or equivalent China enterprise grade preferred) including data modeling, pipeline development, and ETL workflows

• Proficient in SQL and Python for data manipulation, integration, and custom development

• Experience with cloud AI platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP or Alibaba Cloud/Tencent Cloud) including deployment, APIs, and microservices

• Knowledge of China's AI/data compliance requirements and ability to conduct risk assessments

• Strong communication skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change

• Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken)

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related fields

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with agentic frameworks (LangChain, AutoGen, LlamaIndex)

• Manufacturing industry experience

• Cloud or AI architecture certifications (AWS/Azure ML, Snowflake SnowPro)

• Global or cross-cultural project experience

• Product owner mindset with track record of end-to-end delivery
