Position Description
The Procurement Program Manager is responsible for building, managing and driving cost reductions across commodities and projects to leverage cost benefits for various products. This person will manage the development of a forward-looking project roadmap focused on BOM cost, quality, lead time reduction, and delivery improvements.
Metrics will be used to measure improved supplier performance and enable the businesses to optimize product performance by providing visibility to the forward-looking cost projections (forecasts, committed negotiations, should cost analyses, value engineering opportunities, etc.).
The Procurement Program Manager will champion supply chain improvement processes, working with the supply base, internal customers to include but not limited to the site supply chain lead, purchasing, engineering, quality, and material control.
Function and activities consist of at least the following:
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Deliver YOY cost reductions aligned to site goals
- Support LCC and annual material savings plans for various sites
- Support business transformation projects
- Lead cost reduction projects from concept to production as identified using gate review sourcing process
- Manage VAVE initiatives from concept to production using gate review sourcing process
- Manage supplier assessments using in region supply chain resources
- Contract negotiation and agreement implementation
- Key supplier performance and scorecard management as assigned
- Improve supplier performance in quality and delivery when identified as actionable through supplier analysis.
- Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders across the business to achieve objectives.
- Develop, maintain and act on cost analysis reports that provide the required data to manage related cost, quality, or delivery improvement projects.
- Develop and manage existing and potential suppliers including selection, approval, development, consolidation, maintenance, and exit processes in alignment with business sites’ objectives
- Project and transition management of sourcing projects and supply chain initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Product Management and Engineering to achieve desired cost targets
- Support Engineering in the analysis of technical alternatives or trade-offs for new product designs. Collaborate with current suppliers to deliver on concept saving opportunities that identify improvements in process or materials to reduce waste and cost.
- Ensure that the external supplier expertise is known by the engineering teams, commodity specialist and material control teams. Ensure our supply base is in a position to collaborate with the sites for cost savings.
- Develops & maintains appropriate linkages with development, engineering, operations, finance and customer service within the various sites to ensure successful execution of strategies and cost savings opportunities
- Identification and implementation of collaborative goals and opportunities to include but not limited to Inventory reduction and management, cost saving projects, supplier quality and OTD improvement.
- Establishing key long-term relationships with strategic suppliers that will deliver sustainable added value to business operations, implementation of supplier management and improvement processes where required.
- The on-going development and management of strategic supplier relationships to meet product / service, cost and performance productivity goals including YOY productivity.
Candidate Qualifications
A) Minimum professional and educational background desired (include years of experience).
- Degree equivalent in engineering, supply chain, operations, materials or business-related field. Strong Engineering background is preferred.
- CIPS, CPIM, PMI, or APICS certification preferred.
- At least 5 years of successful global supply chain and sourcing experience for various categories / services.
- Experience with Castings/Machined products, Plastic Injection, Rubber parts.
- At least 5 years of proven success in negotiating with suppliers directly for large and small dollar expenditures and constructing such a negotiation in a formal contract.
- Demonstrated results in attaining year-over-year price reduction, cost savings, delivery and quality improvements in the business area supported. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement with tangible results.
- Demonstrated success in cost improvement projects for supplier quality and delivery.
- Strong project management and matrix organization collaboration skills are a must. Must be comfortable with and demonstrated success in leading projects in a matrix organization within a decentralized geographic organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a requirement
- Understands Supplier Quality Management and Auditing.
- Strong negotiation skills and contract management
- Ability to read, understand and communicate engineering drawings and work with BOMs is required.
- Fluency in English
- Transition management experience of product from one source to another is required.
- MRP Experience.
- Willingness to Travel at least 25% of the time
