Job Summary

The Product Manager is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of pump products—from market analysis and product planning to development support, launch, and post-launch optimization. This role bridges market needs, customer requirements, engineering capabilities, and commercial objectives to ensure a competitive and profitable pump product portfolio across industrial, water, energy, or process markets.


Key Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Planning

  • Define product vision, roadmap, and positioning for assigned pump categories (e.g., centrifugal pumps, multistage pumps, API pumps, water & wastewater pumps).
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis (performance, pricing, certifications, applications).
  • Identify new product opportunities and manage product upgrades based on market demand and technology trends.
  • Develop business cases, including cost structure, pricing strategy, and ROI.

2. Market & Customer Insights

  • Gather Voice of Customer (VOC) from sales, key accounts, distributors, EPCs, and end users.
  • Translate customer application needs (flow, head, efficiency, materials, standards) into clear product requirements.
  • Support key customer projects, bid clarifications, and technical-commercial discussions.

3. Product Development Support

  • Work closely with R&D and engineering teams to define Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).
  • Participate in design reviews, prototype evaluation, testing, and validation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, API, ANSI, DIN, GB).

4. Launch & Go-to-Market

  • Plan and execute new product launches, including sales tools, technical datasheets, and training.
  • Develop product value propositions and application-based selling arguments.
  • Support marketing activities such as exhibitions, webinars, catalogues, and digital content.

5. Lifecycle & Portfolio Management

  • Manage product lifecycle: introduction, growth, maturity, and phase-out.
  • Monitor product performance, margin, and market feedback.
  • Propose cost optimization, localization, and platform standardization initiatives.

6. Internal Enablement

  • Train sales and application teams on product features, applications, and differentiation.
  • Act as the internal product expert and first point of contact for product-related questions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • New product launch success (time-to-market, adoption)
  • Revenue and margin growth of assigned product lines
  • Win rate in key projects and tenders
  • Customer satisfaction and market feedback
  • Product cost and competitiveness improvement

Qualification & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • MBA or business background is a plus.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in pumps, fluid handling, or industrial equipment industries.
  • Experience in product management, product marketing, application engineering, or technical sales preferred.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of pump hydraulics, applications, and system curves.
  • Familiarity with pump materials, sealing systems, motors, and efficiency standards.
  • Knowledge of industrial segments such as water & wastewater, HVAC, oil & gas, chemicals, power, or mining.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • Customer-oriented mindset with commercial awareness.
  • Strong presentation and documentation skills.
  • Fluent in English; Chinese mandatory for local market roles.
