Role Purpose:

This role is accountable for management and the safe execution of engineering projects, electrical engineering and design across engineering projects, and provision of electrical technical support in preparation of engineering project tender responses/clarifications

Job Objective: 

This role is accountable for executing the electrical design of Engineering Projects, provision of electrical technical services, and where required management and execution of projects to support the team, for customised products in CAPS compressed air, air treatment or power generation products. 

 

The role will have a heavier bias towards electrical engineering of compressed air system products, with appropriate availability for involvement in power generation projects where necessary and within technical capabilities and experience.

Engineering Customisation of Product

  • In support of my Project Team colleagues, execute Electrical Engineering Design for customisations and modifications to Products and Systems within my qualifications and level of experience, including:
    • Electrical Component and Equipment selection to required standards and specifications
    • Electrical Circuit Design for new installation works/system packages
    • Electrical Circuit Modifications to a variety of OEM standard equipment types.
    • Provision of electrical technical documentation and drawing creation or drawing markups
    • Provision of quality plans, ITPs, project schedule and other miscellaneous project documentation
  • Support Mechanical Engineers with direct Electrical Design and component selections where required on their individual projects. 
  • Mentor / Support Mechanical engineers on their execution simple electrical design projects.
  • Where required undertake simple mechanical design tasks in support of Project Managers.
  • Work with Engineering Services in KL for cost efficient documentation generation and document control
  • Work closely with all stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure modifications are fit-for-purpose and costed appropriately to optimise profit margins.

 

 

 

 

Project Management and Execution

For engineering projects assigned to you:

  • Execute overall project management
  • Review project technical scope, budget, delivery requirements and assess feasibility
  • Ensure technical compliance with project specifications and applicable standards
  • Ensure project outputs meets the needs of your customer.
  • Manage projects to be on-budget against an ‘as ordered’ PMU.
  • Manage projects to be delivered in full, on time.
  • Report weekly the status of all projects - cost, payment milestones, delivery or technical issues.
  • Conduct projects close out reviews to review success and to document lessons learned.
  • Where required attend or host meetings with clients, suppliers or subcontractors in support of project completion.
  • Where required, develop project schedules and work packs, complete progress reporting and monitor project milestones

Product Validation

To inspect, evaluate and test as necessary all engineering project related equipment, materials and works completed by OEM manufacturers, suppliers, subcontractors and manufacturing / service departments to ensure it meets the project specified output performance, quality requirements and applicable Australian standards.

ISO 9001 and Process Improvement

Ensure all my activities with my engineering role are aligned with the requirements of the CAPS ISO9001 system and the processes defined within CAPS Promapp.

Where required, participate fully in audits of engineering process by internal and external auditors.

Where required participate in process improvement activities and projects.

Map and update key engineering processes into Promapp as part of our regular engineering activity.

General Administration

Ensure accurate timesheets are kept updated every week so that:

  • The engineering cost centre accurately reflects chargeable vs non chargeable activity.
  • Pronto Jobs reflect a true account of engineering effort required in execution.

Conduct other reasonable engineering and business-related duties, within my capacity and qualifications, as assigned by my manager from time to time.

To work efficiently and comply with all company policies and procedures.

Complete all training requirements assigned to me, in person, or on the CAPS PDP platform as required.

Operate at all times within any limits assigned to me under the CAPS Authority Matrix for expenditure and quotations.

 

Relationships: 

Interface with Product Managers, Sales, Service, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Suppliers & Customers

Internal:

Mentor / Support Mechanical engineers

Work with Engineering Services in KL

Work closely with all stakeholders (internal and external)

 

External:

Where required attend or host meetings with clients, suppliers or subcontractors in support of project completion.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Bachelor Level Degree or Higher in an Electrical Engineering discipline

Minimum 3 years’ experience in Electrical Engineering
