Job Objective: 

To lead and manage the end-to-end supply chain function across the CAPS business, encompassing procurement, warehousing, inventory management, and logistics. The role is responsible for delivering a high-performing, efficient, and compliant supply chain that optimises cost, ensures product availability, and enhances customer service outcomes.

This position provides strategic leadership to the central supply chain team, while also exercising dotted-line leadership and influence across the 10-branch network, ensuring alignment, consistency, and best practice execution of supply chain processes at all locations.

The role drives continuous improvement initiatives, strengthens supplier partnerships, and ensures supply chain activities are aligned with organisational goals, operational requirements, and service expectations.

 

Dimensions:

Direct leadership of the central Supply Chain team, including procurement, inventory, warehousing, and logistics functions.

Dotted-line leadership and functional oversight across the 10-branch network, ensuring consistent execution of supply chain processes, inventory control, and operational standards.

Nature and Scope:

Accountable for the performance, cost, and efficiency of the end-to-end supply chain across CAPS, including procurement, inventory, warehousing, and logistics.

Leads the central supply chain function and drives consistent execution across the 10-branch network through strong functional (dotted-line) leadership.

Delivers improved profitability and working capital outcomes by optimising inventory investment, supplier performance, and logistics efficiency.

Ensures the business achieves high service levels and reliable supply through disciplined planning, strong supplier partnerships, and continuous improvement of processes and systems.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Leadership

Lead and develop a high-performing Supply Chain team, driving accountability, capability, and engagement.

Set and execute a clear supply chain strategy aligned to business growth, profitability, and customer service objectives.

Provide functional leadership across the 10-branch network, ensuring consistent standards, execution, and performance.

Foster a strong safety and performance culture across all supply chain operations.

 

 

 

Logistics Performance

Optimise national distribution and freight operations to deliver cost-effective, reliable service outcomes.

Ensure fast and reliable delivery to branches and customer sites

Lead logistics, warehousing, to maximise efficiency, safety, and throughput.

Negotiate and manage freight and logistics contracts to ensure competitive commercial outcomes.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory and Chain of Responsibility requirements.

Supply & Procurement Management

Drive strategic sourcing and procurement to achieve optimal cost, quality, and supply continuity.

Build and manage key supplier relationships to improve performance, flexibility, and commercial value.

Lead contract negotiations and resolve supplier issues with a strong commercial focus.

Inventory & Working Capital Management

Own inventory investment and working capital performance across the business.

Improve inventory turns, forecasting accuracy, and stock visibility

Optimise stock levels to balance availability, service, and cost.

Drive reduction of OSMI and improve inventory turns, accuracy, and visibility.

Implement disciplined demand planning and replenishment processes across the network.

Systems & Continuous Improvement

 Oversee the effective utilisation and optimisation of the ERP system with in the supply chain team.

 Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve service, and increase efficiency.

 Leverage data and analytics to drive decision-making and performance outcomes.

 Monitor Supply Chain performance at, or above the minimum requirements mandated in          ISO9001     Quality System

Drive improvement in CAPS’ Modern Slavery policy process in line with minimum regulatory requirements of Australian law.

    Stakeholder & Commercial Alignment

Partner with Operations, Sales, Finance, Engineering and Project teams to align supply chain with demand and financial targets.

Influence executive decision-making through insights on cost, service, and supply risk.

Ensure supply chain performance supports customer satisfaction and revenue growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

APICS Certification at least CPIM level
