Job Summary

Taking ownership of the bid process for specific proposals, by project managing the various stage of the process including the analysis of Customer commercial/technical sales enquiries (for Company supplied goods/services), together with the subsequent bid preparation activities for the submission of offers which are on-time, risk assessed, approved and competitive in nature.

Responsibilities

Pre-bid:

• To receive and analyse Customer enquiries through the CRS and formal enquiry specifications 
• To communicate to internal/external stakeholders project ownership for a specific quotation and give estimated completion date. 
• Where necessary convene Tender Initiations Meetings for specific projects that warrant such (wide or target stakeholders)  
• To project manage the co-ordination, compilation of the bid proposal in line with bid preparation programme – including the technical proposal, scope of supply, functional technical specifications, delivery   programme, commercial terms and other such supporting information – using the ‘Bid Templates’ to assist
• To prepare cost and pricing information using the ‘Systems Price Estimate’ template, together with the necessary risk assessments
• To communicate and liaise with management and stakeholders any extension of time requirements for specific bid submission(s)
• Completion of the Knack (CRM) system prior to submission

Bid approval

• To gain necessary commercial approvals to support the submission of the bid
• To finalize the bid and make submission as appropriate

Post-bid

• To support any post bid Questions/Answers phase as part of the clarification process
• Following receipt of any PO in relation to the proposal, prepare a Technical Pack and attend the Systems Kick Off Meeting in support of a Contract hand-over
• To be involved with any possible ‘lessons learned’ review from any failed bid

• To be available for clarification of any matter relating to the bid during the Contract stage, together with providing commercial support for the clarification and cost quantification relating to any emerging works in the form of Variation Claims
• To be involved in ‘Contract Review’ activity at the conclusion of a Contract to look at overall performance versus bid assumptions

General activities

• To provide courteous and professional service to Customers as a ‘first point of contact’ regarding any general technical enquiry they may have
• To take an active involvement with Company programmes where specifically invited to do within capability and capacity considerations
• To train and guide other Application Engineers
• To deputise for the Technical Sales Lead where appropriate

Basic Qualifications

Engineering experience or relevant engineering qualifications

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

Based at the Sunderland Site but travel is expected to meet job requirements.
