Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary: 

 

As Haskel continues to grow, we are looking for a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer to support the engineering team to develop, value engineer and standardise our hydrogen refuelling systems.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing gas, hydraulic and process systems. You will be expected to produce instrumentation pipe-work schematics, fabrication drawings, system designs and GA drawings in both 2D and 3D CAD packages.

Vital to this role will be your ability to work well across different departments and support the business with technical interfaces on live projects and key strategic development priorities.

 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • To be an operational member of the design team to ensure systems are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Support the continuous improvement program and embrace as part of standard work.
  • Liaising with the Quality department to ensure documentation is completed for a system within a timely manner.
  • Updating Engineering drawings to ensure as built data is captured.
  • Assist manufacturing with commissioning both on and off site.

 

 

Experience, knowledge, skills:

 

  • Must have an appropriate Engineering Related Degree.
  • Concept system design including circuits, pumps, tooling and fabrication.
  • Produce engineering calculations to ensure specifications are met.
  • Produce P&ID drawings and bill of materials for each design using AutoCAD.
  • Produce detail drawings and general arrangement drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Component specification and verification in accordance with operating environment.
  • Complete engineering documentation to ensure continued compliance with ISO standards and CE marking directives.
  • Commercial awareness – material and direct cost focus and understanding

The ideal candidate will be from a degree / HNC/HND in engineering, with the capacity to understand project requirements in terms of costs, on time delivery and quality. To be successful you must have the ability to create relationships, be a good communicator, adaptable and work well as part of a fast growing team.

The emerging hydrogen mobility market is driving significant demand for refuelling stations manufactured by Haskel and this Mechanical Design Engineer role is key to the successful delivery of our growth strategy in this market, both in the UK and overseas.
