The Gardner, Denver, Nash division of Ingersoll Rand has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Environmental Health and Safety Specialist.  This position will be based out of our Moody, AL facility. 

 

The Quality Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will interface with all levels of plant management and the hourly workforce, while administering plant-wide safety  and quality programs for our Moody, AL repair facility through ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 programs, regulatory compliance, implementation and maintenance of Corporate policy, and plant specific loss prevention activities. 

 

This position will maintain Environmental Health and Safety responsibility for regulation administration including:  Federal, OSHA, Alabama Environmental Regulations, and any other relevant State or local laws.  This position also performs a variety of tests to ensure units function according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure, using test instruments: Reviews test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used. Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections per applicable prints and specifications.

 

Essential Functions:

 

 EHS:
•    Audit safety compliance and assist management in developing and implementing loss prevention actions and programs to address audit findings. Track progress of all compliance activities.
•    Assist all levels of plant management with development and implementation of department specific and general loss prevention activities and training programs designed to improve overall safety performance.
•    Implement corporate or division Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality directives. 
•    Provide or facilitate appropriate compliance training.
•    Review proposed new manufacturing equipment, processes and materials with regard to regulatory and corporate policy compliance and make recommendations to plant management.
•    Provide guidance / leadership to the Safety Committees and other safety focus groups.
•    Perform Job Safety Analysis and/or Risk Assessments, Ergonomic Assessment.
•    Provide guidance / leadership to the Safety Committees and other safety focus groups.

Quality:
•    Documentation: Develops documentation of the Company’s quality system to satisfy the standards of ISO-9001- 2015.
•    Inspections: Works with the production and engineering staff to support any receiving or in-processes inspections, and perform final inspection activities. Reports to senior management on the state of the quality system as defined in the Quality documents.
•    Quality Activities: Administers all document control activities associated with the quality system including, but not limited to, the Quality Manual, Quality Procedures, Work Instructions, Non- Conformances, Inspection Reports, etc. Assist with calibration activities, both internal and external.
•    Assist with internal audits associated with the quality system.
General:
•    Customer Issues: Resolves and disposes of quality issues raised by customers and suppliers.
•    Trains: Conducts and oversees the training of all company personnel in the quality documents along with the activities associated with those documents; ensures training records are generated and stored in accordance with procedures.
•    Clearly and professionally communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and hourly employees throughout the facilities.
•    Plan and schedule time to accomplish assigned responsibilities.
•    Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
•    Perform all other duties as assigned.


Experience and Requirements:


•    3-5 years of experience in a QEHS environment as well as with the ISO certification process and procedures. The ability to develop good working relationships at all levels of the organization is necessary.
•    EHS Experience in a manufacturing environment 
•    OSHA Laws and Knowledge Experience
•    Good working knowledge of all Standard Inspection Equipment Required.
•    Experience with Faro portable CMM equipment preferred.
•    Knowledge of NDE inspection methods ( VT, PT, MT, UT, X Ray ) preferred.
•    Familiarity with using Lean and/or Six Sigma tools to develop strategy and solve problems desirable
•    Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint
•    Ability to plan and complete work with minimal supervision and maintain strict confidentiality
•    Excellent verbal and written communications and training skills
•    High School diploma or GED required.
