Job Summary — EHS & Quality Assurance Specialist

The EHS & Quality Assurance Specialist is a key dual-role position responsible for driving both environmental, health, and safety (EHS) excellence and maintaining the highest standards of product quality at Dave Barry Plastics. This individual ensures the organization’s compliance with regulatory requirements and internal safety policies while also overseeing the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 standards to uphold product quality and customer satisfaction.

On the EHS side, the specialist will integrate Ingersoll Rand’s EHS standards into Dave Barry Plastics’ operations, manage and input EHS data into Gensuite, and track, organize, and maintain compliance documentation. They will proactively support a culture of safety, identify and mitigate potential risks, and ensure the company meets all applicable environmental and workplace health regulations.

On the Quality Assurance side, the specialist will lead the company’s ISO 9001 quality management system, oversee its implementation and continuous improvement, and ensure strict product quality controls. They will inspect and sign off on all outgoing products, address nonconformances, and uphold Dave Barry Plastics’ reputation for excellence through systematic review, testing, and documentation.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

EHS Responsibilities:

  • Implement and enforce the company’s EHS policies and standard work across the facilities under their responsibility by developing site-specific EHS policies, procedures and programs (e.g. lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, emergency response) and ensure compliance with those requirements through routine auditing and inspections.
  • Conduct audits and inspections at the facility to ensure adherence to company EHS policies and standard work, as well as all applicable local laws and regulations.
  • Identify and implement EHS best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives for the sites.
  • Manage activities to assure compliance with critical EHS programs while building an EHS culture.
  • Manage EHS data entry and reporting within Gensuite.
  • Track, maintain, and organize all safety and compliance documentation.
  • Track site performance against EHS key performance indicators, while using a mix of both leading and lagging indicators.
  • Conduct incident investigations to identify contributing factors, root cause and appropriate actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor workplace safety performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Quality Assurance Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 certification and associated processes.
  • Establish and update quality control procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Continuously improve and adapt processes
  • Inspect and approve incoming materials before use to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Inspect and approve products before shipment to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Analyse quality performance metrics and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence of non-conformities, defects, and issues.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality concerns and enhance processes.

 

Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Proven experience in EHS compliance and/or quality management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, or equivalent EHS regulations and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Experience with Gensuite or other EHS/quality management software preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-department collaboration.

 

Requirements:

 

  • 3+ years of experience with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety management in an industrial and service environment
  • 3+ years of experience with quality assurance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development and management of integrated quality, environmental, safety systems
  • Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • Experience in manufacturing process validations and test method validations
  • Advanced statistics knowledge; Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent
