Sales Specialist, NSW & ACT

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for successfully selling and introducing the range of Gardner Denver Industrials Products and/or services via direct and indirect distribution channels to maximise order intake, sales and profit margin.

 

Key AccountabilitIES:

 

Safety

  • Promote compliance with the Company’s EHS systems and relevant legislation and regulations
  • Promote and support the reporting of incidents such as near miss, accident or equipment damage
  • Mitigate and / or eliminate hazards by regular completion of safety and housekeeping audits, conducting risk assessments, timely completion of corrective actions, and ensuring all work is conducted in accordance with procedures

 

Sales

  • Achieve or exceed the sales targets of the allocated territory/product by developing new business with existing and potential clients
  • Work with the Sales Manager to prepare the overall sales budget and strategy
  • Develop and maintain a high level of product knowledge
  • Ensure all activities comply with legal and ethical standards as well as company policies
  • Create a written report on sales, activity and territory performance submitting to the sales manager weekly
  • Customer and site visits including face to face and online prospecting activity
  • Approximately 30% office based with 70% travel in NSW and customer visits.   
  • Draft proposals and detailed costings and prepare contract documents for review prior to negotiation with the Customer/Client
  • Attend industry association events and build influence within industry sectors

 

Customer Management

  • Appraise the current and planned customer needs and advise on the application of the Company products or services to customer
  • Prepare and review proposals, detailed costings and contract documents prior to negotiation with clients/customers
  • Offer assistance and explanation when difficulties arise, ensure complaints are followed up and that satisfactory solutions are obtained
  • Maintain and develop close relationships with key accounts and ensure their requirements are being met by the company’s products where possible
  • Actively seek new customers and relationships both direct and resell accounts

 

Competitor analysis

  • Provide input into the determination of the overall sales budget and strategy
  • Actively monitor trends through clients/contacts and suppliers and attendance at trade shows, association meetings, seminars and provide feedback to the Sales Manager

 

Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of products and or services offered
  • Self-starter, able to work under time constraints, detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated PC Skills ( Excel, Word, PowerPoint and databases) and SAP experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines and organise work priorities
  • Demonstrate a flexible and “can do” attitude
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Focused on achieving agreed targets
  • Highly developed organisational skills
  • Proven communication, negotiation and presentations skills are essential 
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills to assess customer needs and requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) Business or Engineering preferred 
  • Minimum 4-5 years experience in a comparable position if no degree
