Advanced Quality Engineer

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and ensures that project/program goals including quality and reliability are met in compliance with specifications and standard work.
  2. Develops AQP plans for NPD programs; ensures resources are obtained as required.
  3. Plans and manages executional Quality resources in completing the APQP activities as planned.
  4. Assures compliance with all specifications and standard work for all products and services.
  5. Identifies gaps and drive closure plan for quality and reliability targets.
  6. Serves as core team member on new product development / 3P teams. Trains and mentors less experienced group members on responsibilities, procedures, and processes, including assisting in development and monitoring the implementation of training plans for new team members.
  7. Reviews, challenges, and simplifies existing, develop, and apply quality driven test systems and procedures to assure products meet intended use and customer expectations.
  8. Performs any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Project Readiness

  • Develops and ensures that project/program goals including quality and reliability are met in compliance with specifications and standard work.
  • Manages/leads/conducts APQP and PPAP activities for third party, intra-company, and internal supplied parts including Component Risk Assessments, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Validation,  towards on-time PPAP and Flawless Launch.
  • Serves as core team member on new product development / 3P teams. Trains and mentors less experienced group members on responsibilities, procedures, and processes, including assisting in development and monitoring the implementation of training plans for new team members.
  • Reviews, challenges, and simplifies existing, develop, and apply quality driven test systems and procedures to assure products meet intended use and customer expectations.

 

Supplier Readiness

  • Concurrently responsible as Project SQE - PPAP Owner – for components
  • Provides Supplier with technical oversight and expertise in areas such as Process Development, PFMEA, Measurement Systems, Control Plans and Error Proofing
  • Supports/conducts AQP reviews with Suppliers which include Design Specification, Pass Thru identification, Safe Launch Control, Launch Readiness and Run @ Rate.  Validate that Critical To Quality features / Key Product Characteristics have been defined.  Conduct technical drawing review with supplier to ensure supplier understands all the requirements on the drawings

 

Competencies and Success Factors

Demonstrated proficiency in:

  • Strong customer service orientation and applied knowledge in Industrial Equipment such as compressors
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate associates and to interact with various departments throughout the organization
  • Team oriented proactive change agent with a hands-on, collaborative approach in implementing and maintaining operating disciplines while leveraging lean methodologies
  • Problem solving techniques, process improvement tools, statistical and sampling techniques, SPC, process capability, traceability, control points

 

Experience and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Professional certification (CPM, APICS, Six Sigma, CQM, PE, etc.) is preferred
  • 8 years of experience in quality or quality engineering in a manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts, QMS manufacturing practices, and progressive customer relationships.
  • Proficient in contemporary QC and QA tools such as QMS, APQP, LSS, SPC, PPAP, etc.
  • Working knowledge Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing, and dimensional metrology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, mentor, team player and builder
  • Professional in both customer and supplier interaction
  • Ability to travel up to 30% (domestic and international)
