Job Purpose

Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams across Asia Pacific and China, driving execution of product roadmaps and contributing to the strategic growth objectives of Flow Control Solutions (FCS). This role partners closely with the Director of Global Engineering to set technical and operational strategy, foster team development, and ensure alignment with FCS business goals.

Job Summary

The APAC Engineering Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of engineering teams supporting the Asia Pacific region.  This role sets direction, develops talent, and drives execution of product development and sustaining engineering initiatives. The manager ensures teams deliver innovative solutions, exceptional customer support, and measurable contributions to FCS growth. This position is ideal for a leader with deep technical expertise, strong people management skills, and a proven ability to execute complex projects across multiple product lines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Assist the Director of Engineering in setting and executing strategy for APAC  Wuxi engineering teams
    • Align team objectives and product roadmaps with FCS growth goals and business priorities
    • Drive cross-functional collaboration to accelerate innovation and deliver best-in-class solutions

• Harness tribal knowledge by systematically capturing, documenting, and sharing critical pump technical expertise, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and continuity across engineering teams and product lines

 Team Development:
• Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Manage performance reviews, career development, and recruitment for the Thomas Wuxi engineering teams

  • Product Roadmap Execution:
    • Oversee planning, resource allocation, and execution of product development and sustaining engineering projects
    • Ensure timely delivery of project milestones, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements
    • Champion process optimization and lean initiatives to maximize team effectiveness

 

  • Operational Excellence:
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engineering activities, such as project delivery, cost savings, and issue resolution
    • Drive effective communication and knowledge sharing across teams and regions
    • Represent the engineering function to executive leadership, customers, and external partners

 

  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Ensure teams provide exceptional technical support and customer service
    • Collaborate with sales, product management, and manufacturing to align solutions with market needs
    • Lead resolution of complex technical challenges and support business development activities

Required Qualifications

 •    Continuous learning mindset to keep up with evolving technologies.

•    Experience with strategic planning, project management, and process optimization

•    Excellent mechanical comprehensions with the ability to understand, describe or discuss problems of a technical nature.

•    Strong mentoring capabilities to help develop junior engineers on team.

•    Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.

•    Technical competence in Fluid Power (Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electromechanical Systems). 

•    Experience in Life Science market spaces preferred

•    Effective verbal and written communication skills

•    Ability to direct and work effectively through others and be a participative team player

Education & Experience

 

•   Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution (Master’s degree or MBA preferred)

•   8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a technical leadership or management role

•   Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams, product portfolios, and ‑cross functional initiatives

•   Strong knowledge of product development processes, sustaining engineering practices, and product lifecycle management

•   Experience in pump technologies or fluid handling systems preferred

 

Travel Expectations

 

Willingness to Travel: Availability to travel up to 25 % of the time (e.g., customer visits, training at our technical centers, trade shows, etc.).

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams supporting FCS APAC
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and professional development for FCS APAC engineering staff
  • Set and execute technical and operational strategies to deliver best-in-class solutions and customer experience
