Job Summary (Mechanical Design Engineer – Air Treatment)
This position will be a strong individual contributor driving engineering initiatives, which deliver growth, gross margin, cost saving and product integrity control, support manufacturing operations, and meet customer requirements through product enhancement / productivity projects and engineered solutions. This position mainly focus on design & development of air compressor, screw compressor with i2v principals, product support and reliability of products. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, program management, supply chain and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design & development of Air treatment (Refrigerated air dryers/Chillers)components.
- Responsible for release of drawings and BOM for new design in ERP system.
- Provide Engineering design support of productivity improvement projects through effective participation on cross-functional teams.
- Ensure performance, quality, and reliability are maintained throughout the design cycle.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering design, documentation, and bill of material for products.
- Support plant and product management cost out and margin expansion activities.
- Support product transfers and Regional New Product Development.
- Investigate and execute engineering change (or product improvement) requests, non-conforming material reports and supplier deviation change requests.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with team members within engineering and from other departments.
- Provide input on continuous improvement opportunities for design processes as well as products.
- Executing VA/VE projects, support to operations/sales/service for day to day activities
- Solving complex technical problems in a structured approach using engineering problem solving tools.
Qualifications:
BE in Mechanical Engineering with excellent academics with minimum of 6-8years of experience in product design and development in Refrigerated air dryers /HVAC system.
Key Competencies:
- Solid background in design and manufacturing principles, with experience in Refrigerant compressor sizing, condenser, evaporator & Capillary sizing & HVAC components sizing.
- Refrigerant system balancing & gas charge optimization knowledge.
- Plant or manufacturing operation experience strongly preferred
- Experience with quality and reliability processes, supplier qualification, and part approval requirements
- Ability to navigate projects or opportunities with limited definition and provide business and technical feedback on their merit
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively to peers and groups and break down complex analysis into a format that can be understood by non-technical audience.
- Knowledge of designing refrigerated air dryers (Preferable)/HVAC , drafting and computer aided design, applies knowledge to assigned tasks; or knowledge in product definition, product configuration, and bills of materials, and applies knowledge to tasks.
- Good understanding of product configuration and product applications are a plus.
- Proficiency in tolerance stack up and in design calculations is preferred
- Basic proficiency in 3-D modeling and drafting required. Proficiency with Pro-Engineer preferred. Knowledge of Oracle a plus.
