Job Summary:
The Senior Design Engineer – Vacuum Systems is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of vacuum-based systems and equipment. This role involves system sizing, component selection, integration, and ensuring high-performance operation of vacuum systems for industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development:
- Design and develop vacuum systems including rough and high vacuum.
- Perform required calculations (pumping speed, nozzle load, coupling selection, Motor Selection, supporting accessories sizing)
- Create detailed P&IDs, GAD layouts, and engineering drawings.
- Select and specify key components such as:
- Vacuum pumps (Rotary, Dry Screw, Liquid ring, vacuum Booster, claw)
- Valves, gauges, instruments mountings, supporting accessories)
System Integration & Engineering:
- Integrate vacuum pumps along with supporting accessories, valves, gauges, piping & instrumentations using 3D software.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams.
- Ensure proper system layout, piping design, and leak-tight construction.
Analysis & Performance Optimization:
- Conduct system simulations and performance analysis. (System rigidity, low Noise and vibrations)
- Optimize system performance for efficiency, cycle time, and energy usage.
- Develop and execute standard procedures for vacuum systems.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (ISO, ASME, CE, etc.).
- Maintain accurate documentation, BOMs, and revision control. (ECR/ECN)
- Support audits and quality inspections.
Basic Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 5–12+ years of experience in vacuum system design or vacuum technology.
- Experience with design tools: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, inventor, etc.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of vacuum system components and technologies.
- Analytical skills for system sizing and performance calculations
- Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting vacuum issues
- Experience in P&ID and piping design
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination
- Ability to work on multiple projects
- Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Must have experience with tools: Excell / SAP.
