Job & Division Summary:
This role is for Design Engineer, Airend reporting to Manager Engineering – Rotary Engineering. This role will support NPD, Sustenance and VA-VEngg. projects for Industrial Air Compressors as required by Product / site teams in EMEIA.
Responsibilities
- The candidate will work in alignment with ongoing Airend engg. projects; ensuring technical, time, and Quality requirements, collaborating with Compressor Package design engineers
- The candidate may perform Mechanical Design of rotating & static parts, pressure housing, bearings, shafts etc. used in the Rotary Compressors using calculations, standards etc. and create 3D CAD parts, assemblies & drawings for manufacture.
- typically work on large casting, machining parts for Compressors, interface design with other equipment and 3D rotating machine assemblies
- Prepare accurate engineering BoMs, assembly, drawings etc. for ECR, ECN process in Windchill PLM
- Engage with key Global stakeholders and meet business expectations
- Mechanical design calculations to verify existing designs or select new ones.
- Develop presentation/ documentation material in support of NPD or i2V Design reviews, RCAs etc.
- Communicate effectively while working remotely with global engineering teams.
Mandatory Requirements
- Min. 2 years: Design experience with Compressor / Blower / Vacuum Pump / very similar rotating equipment including Subsystem sizing, selection & integration e.g. Motors, couplings, belt/chain /gear drives, lubricant selection etc.
- Competent in design of machined castings, forgings, shafts, journals, bearings, seals etc. – 2+ years
- Expertise in small to medium Assembly & Top–down, bottom-up modelling using CREO 9 (or higher) and Windchill PLM – 1+ years of hands-on experience
- Strong proficiency in English and ability to communicate with global stake holders.
Desired Skills
- Proficient in CREO and/or Inventor, as also with PLM processes in Windchill. Basic Knowledge of ERP processes with SAP or Oracle will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Pneumatic, Hydraulic Piping, P&ID, pressure vessels, flange and fitting standards is very desirable.
- Working knowledge of GD & T, ASME Y14.5 requirements in drawings and basic tolerance stack-up
- Fundamental understanding of mechanics, materials, structures and its application to product design and function
- Experience in Mechanical design of parts, rotating elements or assemblies as per International Standards like ASTM, ASME Sec. VIII, Data handbooks etc.
- Strong individual contributor with ability to work, collaborate with Cross-functional teams and manage work flows independently.
