Job & Division Summary: 

Ingersoll Rand, through its Ecoplant platform, is transforming industrial energy systems using real-time data, machine learning, and intelligent automation.

Ecoplant is an AI-driven SaaS platform that helps large industrial organizations optimize energy usage, reduce operational costs, and improve sustainability through advanced analytics and automation.

We are looking for a backend-focused Technical Leader who combines deep technical expertise with the ability to guide engineers and shape the technical direction of our platform.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive backend architecture and development while serving as a technical anchor for the engineering team.

As the Bangalore engineering presence grows, this role offers an opportunity to evolve into broader technical leadership as the team expands.

You will work closely with our global engineering and research teams in Israel and Europe while helping build our growing engineering presence in Bangalore.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and development of core backend services powering Ecoplant’s AI-driven platform
• Remain highly hands-on in backend development, contributing directly to architecture, system design, and implementation
• Design and evolve distributed microservices supporting real-time, data-driven systems
• Drive architectural decisions around scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability
• Collaborate closely with Research teams to productionize machine learning models and data-driven capabilities
• Support development of internal AI-powered tools delivering real-time commercial insights
• Guide engineers on backend best practices, system design, and engineering standards
• Work closely with Product, Data, and Engineering teams across global locations
• Help raise overall engineering quality, system reliability, and architectural maturity

Required Skills

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience building and operating production backend systems
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript (NestJS preferred)
• Experience designing distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Solid experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Experience with messaging or streaming systems (Kafka, SQS, Redis Streams, etc.)
• Experience working in cloud environments (GCP preferred, AWS also relevant)
• Strong system design and architectural thinking
• Working knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)
• Ability to mentor engineers and provide technical guidance
• Experience working in cross-functional and distributed teams
