Sr Engineer Applications and Marketing,
Job Summary:
The Application & Marketing Engineer is responsible for understanding customer requirements, selecting the right technical solution, preparing optimal techno‑commercial proposals, supporting sales teams, and ensuring the solution offered is technically feasible, competitive, and aligned with company capabilities. The incumbent sometimes needs to co-ordinate with the customer if needed to provide the right solution suiting the requirement. This techno-commercial role involves close coordination with Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, Project Management, Customer and Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Technical Application Engineering
- Understand customer specifications, data sheets, P&IDs, and tender requirements.
- Select appropriate products (e.g., pumps, systems, accessories) based on application and performance criteria.
- Size and configure equipment using company selection tools/software.
- Provide technical support to sales teams and channel partners.
- Prepare technical documents—GA drawings, datasheets, performance curves, deviation lists, QAPs.
- Conduct feasibility checks for customizations or engineered‑to‑order solutions.
B. Proposal & Tender Management
- Prepare competitive techno‑commercial proposals.
- Analyze tender documents, terms & conditions, contractual clauses, specifications.
- Estimate project cost (material, bought-outs, fabrication, testing, logistics).
- Coordinate with procurement, engineering, quality, and production for costing inputs.
- Submit proposals within deadlines and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Maintain proposal records, revision control, and pricing database.
C. Customer & Sales Support
- Attend customer meetings (virtual/in‑person) for technical clarification.
- Provide pre‑order support—technical presentations, solution explanations, compliance matrices.
- Support post‑order teams during order handover.
- Assist in developing technical brochures, selection guides, and sales tools.
D. Collaboration & Internal Coordination
- Work closely with engineering for design input.
- Coordinate with supply chain for cost updates and lead-time assessments.
- Support sales team with right technical input for product positioning.
E. Compliance & Quality
- Ensure proposals meet internal engineering and commercial standards.
- Follow export compliance, API/ATEX compliance (when applicable).
- Adhere to company guidelines for pricing, margins, and approvals.
Education
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Chemical Engineering
Experience
- 5–7 years in marketing / applications/proposal engineering for industrial equipment.
- Experience in pumps, compressors, rotating equipment, or fluid handling systems is a strong plus.
- Strong technical understanding of pump applications & industrial processes.
- - Self-motivated with a results-driven approach and the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel if required within the region.
Skills Required
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of pump principles (PCP, screw pumps, gear pumps, centrifugal pumps).
- Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Expertise in equipment sizing and selection.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP/STERP) & CRM tools.
- Knowledge of international standards (API, ATEX, CE, ISO) is an advantage.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and customer‑facing ability.
- Analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously.
- High attention to detail.
- Team player with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP will be a plus.
