Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Data Engineer who loves building reliable data infrastructure from the ground up. In this role, you will take ownership of our data ingestion and transformation pipelines, ensuring high-quality data is available for analytics and reporting.
You will work heavily within Snowflake and dbt, writing robust SQL and Python code to solve complex data challenges. This is a role for a self-starter who is willing to learn new technologies and thrives in an environment where you are responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of your data products.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline Development (ELT): Design, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines from various internal and external sources into Snowflake.
- Data Transformation (dbt): Architect and develop clean, modular dbt models to transform raw data into analytics-ready datasets. Ensure code quality through testing and documentation.
- Snowflake Development: Utilize Snowflake features (Streams, Tasks, Snowpark) to automate workflows. Write efficient, high-performance SQL.
- Python Scripting: Develop Python scripts for custom data ingestion or complex transformations (utilizing Snowpark Python 3.10/3.11 runtimes).
- Data Quality & Governance: Implement checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timeliness. Troubleshoot pipeline failures and data anomalies proactively.
- Collaboration: Work closely with analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Tech Stack Evolution: Actively explore new tools and technologies to improve the efficiency of our lean data stack.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced SQL Proficiency: You can write complex, highly optimized SQL queries with ease.
- dbt Expertise: Proven experience building and managing dbt projects in production environments (modeling, testing, documentation).
- Snowflake Experience: Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, data loading, and performance tuning.
- Python Skills: Proficiency in Python for data processing. Experience with modern Snowflake Python environments (specifically versions 3.10 or 3.11) is highly valued.
- Data Modeling: Solid understanding of dimensional modeling (Star Schema) and data warehousing best practices.
- Ownership Mindset: Ability to work independently on a lean team, manage your own backlog, and take responsibility for the success of your pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications (Added Advantage)
- SnowPro Core Certification or SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer Certification.
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices for data engineering (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Experience working with semi-structured data (JSON, XML) within Snowflake.
