Job Summary

The Operations Engineer cum Supervisor is responsible for executing daily production activities, supervising CNC/VMC machining operations, assembly, and testing of gear pumps. The role ensures production targets, quality standards, machine utilization, and shop‑floor discipline while leading operators and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Execution & Supervision

• Execute daily production plans for machining, assembly, and testing operations.
• Supervise CNC/VMC operators and shop‑floor manpower.
• Ensure achievement of shift‑wise production targets.
• Monitor WIP and ensure smooth material flow on the shop floor.

2. CNC / VMC Machining Operations

• Supervise CNC, VMC, and machining center operations.
• Ensure correct loading of programs, tooling, fixtures, and offsets.
• Monitor cycle times, machining quality, and productivity.
• Support setup changes, first‑off approval, and process adherence.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for quick breakdown resolution.

3. Quality Assurance at Shop Floor

• Ensure machining and assembly adhere to drawings, tolerances, and SOPs.
• Conduct in‑process inspections and ensure defect‑free production.
• Coordinate with Quality team for rejection analysis and corrective actions.
• Reduce rework and scrap through process discipline.

4. Team Handling & Workforce Management

• Lead, guide, and motivate CNC/VMC operators and helpers.
• Allocate manpower as per skill requirements.
• Train operators on machining processes, quality standards, and safety.
• Maintain attendance, discipline, and shift handover reports.

5. Process Improvement & Productivity

• Identify bottlenecks, losses, and improvement areas.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and TPM initiatives.
• Improve machine utilization and OEE.
• Support tooling optimization and cycle time reductions.

6. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Materials teams.
• Prepare daily production, downtime, and efficiency reports.
• Ensure ERP/MRP updation for production and material consumption.

7. Safety & Housekeeping

• Ensure safe working practices and proper PPE usage.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards on the shop floor.
• Identify and report safety hazards and near misses.

Educational Qualification

• B.E / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering
